The Alima course is a comprehensive study of the Islamic Sciences, the breadth of which includes expertise in: Arabic grammar, Literature, Tafseer al-Qur’an, Hadith, Islamic Law (Fiqh) and Islamic History.
Taught by certified scholars in a traditional setting, the Aalima Program relates the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad ï·º. The program aims to transmit knowledge and discipline in a well-balanced method training students not only to comprehend but practice and pass on Islamic knowledge.
To be considered a qualified Islamic Scholar, one has to go through years of training in Islamic Studies, Arabic, Quran studies, Hadith Studies, and more. The Arabic Language is a crucial part of being a qualified Islamic Scholar since the Quran is in Arabic and the history behind Islam is Arabic.

Overview of Subjects in Aalim course

Quranic Studies
In this subject, students learn how to recite the Holy Quran fluently and beautifully. The rules of Tajweed cover topics such as; correct pronunciation of the Arabic letters, Sifaat (attributes of letters), Madd (elongation), Waqf (rules of stopping), and styles of recitation. The students learn how to develop their voice control, confidence, and style of recitation.
Hadith Studies
In this subject, students study the Hadith (Prophetic Narrations) from a beginner’s level to an advanced cross-curricular level. The subject helps students achieve objectives such as; Hadith reading, translation, comprehension, and legal and moral extractions.
This subject also helps students develop their memorization skills whilst memorizing a selection of Prophetic Narrations which focus on developing manners, attitudes, and social along with personal development.


Fiqh Studies
In this subject students study Fiqh (understanding of Islamic rulings) from a beginner’s level to an advanced cross-curricular level. The subject covers an expansive range of topics but mainly focuses on rulings related to; ritual bathing and purification, transactions, prayer, pilgrimage, fasting, marriage, divorce, and rights of people.
Arabic Language and Grammar
In this subject, students study Arabic Language and the classical Arabic Grammar. Students are expected to develop their reading, writing, and speaking skills as they gain an appreciation of the depth of Arabic. Grammar studies should enable us to realize the rich structure of the language and the formula-like composition of every sentence.
